Steve Newsome

With influences like Haggard and Jennings, it’s not hard to imagine the sound Steve emulates on stage.

The rough, growly voice mixed in with the singer/songwriter aesthetic give for a unique combination for his solo, or even duo gigs.

But, when Steve Newsome has a full band in tow, the show is more modern, and up tempo constantly filling the dance floor with popular covers, and his extremely catchy originals.

Steve Newsome is your typical Albertan cowboy with a not so typical career.

Born in Southern Alberta, Steve and his Metis heritage, grew up with a proud ranching lifestyle that would later influence his singer/songwriter career.

With his hat currently hanging just west of Stony Plain, Newsome was always a part of the local jam scene-even being the host at a particular few.

After getting a taste of the lifestyle, Steve found himself wanting more; thus taking on music as a full time career.

In addition to success on the West Coast, both singles got picked up internationally when released to radio.

Radio stations in Brazil, Spain, France and Germany all picked up the tracks, garnering a unique fan base.

Closer to home, ‘TTT’ was picked up by 46 stations in Canada, and ‘Enjoy the Ride’ was added to 45 rotations.

The next release from Newsome, will be a change up from the previous releases.

Set to hit radio fall of 2017, ‘Red  Wine’ is a sensual, slowed down pace- showing a softer side of Newsome’s talent.

Radio accomplishments aside, Steve has a strong stage presence.

His traditional look, provides a hometown feel to every show, no matter what song he’s belting out.

Newsome has been lucky enough to share the stage with a handful of established Canadian artists.

Jason McCoy, Clayton Bellamy, Tim Hus, Adam Gregory and Jake Mathews just to name a few.

In addition, Steve, along with his band, where very honored when they played a packed arena ahead of Canadian Kid, Brett Kissel.

Steve again shared the stage with Kissel at the iconic Rainmaker Rodeo and Concert Series, being invited back to sing the national anthem the next day.

“Enjoy the Ride” was the first full length EP Steve released under the label of 1624 Recordings – the brain child of his management firm Dog Rump Creek Music. Spawning two charting hits, both the first release ‘Tried, Tested and True’ and title track ‘Enjoy the Ride’ spent several weeks in the top ten of an indie chart in California.
