Smith Sisters Bluegrass will release a new single on May 24 that celebrates the kindness of a stranger.
“CJ,” written and recorded by Smith Sister Kelli Lewis Smith, with backup vocals by her sister, Wendi Smith Kilman, was inspired by a waitress from Montana, who didn’t hesitate to give Lewis her bracelet when the singer said she loved it.
Lewis told CJ she was only “joshing” and tried to give the bracelet back, but CJ insisted, saying she was going home to Montana and would buy another.
The gesture moved Lewis because giving an item on the spot to a stranger is just the kind of move she would make.
As a refrain in the song says, “An open heart you cannot fake.”
The tune will also be featured on Smith Sisters’ Bluegrass next album, “Momma,” dedicated to their mother, Nancy Caswell Smith.
The sisters’ music will be available on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon beginning May 24th.
