J.R. Ward is an independent country music singer/songwriter originally from Chattanooga, TN who currently resides in Palm Coast, FL.
J.R. got his start in country music playing in the beach bars and nursing homes in the North Florida area.
Since then it has snowballed into playing shows throughout the Southeast to recording a 5 song EP that was released in the Fall of 2017.
The first single from his EP was a song inspired by his time playing in the assisted living homes and nursing homes called “Ready to Go”.
The song talks about what caregivers go through when taking care of loved ones with Alzheimer’s.
“Ready to Go” was used for a national fundraising campaign with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and even had a music video sponsored by Kindred at Home.
“You really find out what is important when you play music for people in these assisted living homes. It’s a constant reminder to do what I love and that is writing and performing.”
J.R.’s follow up single, “90 Proof Sunrise,” has been played on FM radio stations in the Florida area and Independent Radio all across The U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
He continues to book shows and events throughout the South to help promote his EP “My Own Way.”
The EP is named after and for one of his greatest inspirations, Waylon Jennings, who once said, “There’s always one more way to do things, and that’s your way…”
J.R. Ward’s writing and music shows elements of another time with a fresh new sound all of his own.
“I am constantly inspired and not a day goes by that I don’t write a song or perform. Country Music is in my blood, it’s my oxygen!”
