Dean Holmen worked as an ironworker from 1988 until his retirement in 2014, then he started The Music City Hayride Show as a way to help our Veterans and those with alzheimer’s, dementia and drug and alcohol abuse.
This has been a life long passion and to be able to make this a reality still feels like a dream. Dean Holmen is no stranger to the Texas Troubadour Theatre. He has appeared on the Midnight Jamboree as well as with the Traditional Country Opry.
He has performed with the Ohio Opry. Wilson County Fair, festivals and fundraisers and the list goes on. Dean’s video of DEAR HANK, features some of your favorite country legends such as: Porter Wagoner and Little Jimmy Dickens.

The Music City Hayride, inspires communities to become more knowledgeable about the importance of music used in therapy for veterans, and suffers of Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Autism, and Drug and Alcohol abuse. It improves the quality of life with the use of music to improve moods, reduce medications, and protect memory by presenting this information to communities.
On September 17, 2017, Dean Holmen from Madison, Wisconsin received the “Humanitarian of the Year” award, from the Josie Music Awards for his work with the Music City Hayride, a nonprofit, traditional country music show that benefits charities like Operation Stand Down TN, Honor and Valor and the Music and Memory.
This NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION will present a caring network of musicians and performers using traditional country music to raise community awareness and support with concerning values of music used for veterans with symptoms of PTSD, Dementia, Autism, Alzheimer’s, and Alcohol and Drug Recovery.
The musicians and vocalists will performs live on stage. A caravan of artists will make appearances for organizations, treatment centers and communities to perform, communicate, and support the values of music used for treatments.
